Rose No. 1 -Original Watercolor Painting
"First Steps"
Created as part of the Refresh Collection.
Details: An original painting, unframed, 7.2x6 inches, colored pencil outline under high quality watercolor on cold-pressed (textured) paper. Artist's signature clearly visible in gray pen.
Inspiration: This piece was the very first to be completed in this collection. It symbolizes a venturing out for me, as I encouraged myself to be more relaxed + free, exploring a new way of painting. My techniques hadn't changed, but I encouraged myself to take things slowly, allowing the painting to develop in its own time.
This collection is all about seeking peace and trust in our own season of life. After a whirlwind in 2020, my heart desired slowness, gentleness, and peace.
I didn't realize it when I began this piece, but it would come to represent venturing out of one's shell, the first step in embracing who we are and where God has placed us. This painting was one of the first times I pursued expressing my heart and my soul for its own sake.
It has elements of sketching, of pencil marks and outside-the-lines paint, but that's the charm of it to me. The first steps in our own skin isn't always perfection, but it is beautiful to embrace.
Framing: I imagine this painting matted or floating over a mat in a neutral or light color to highlight the gentle palette and best showcase the detail. I'd set it in a frame that complements your home’s aesthetic, maybe in a light-colored wood or vintage metalic. More information on how to best preserve and frame your artwork will come with your painting shippment.
